FallFest returns, joins list of more than 50 WVU Welcome Week events and activities

WHO: West Virginia University kicks off Welcome Week with arrivals at residence halls beginning Thursday, Aug. 11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The moving in process continues into Friday, Aug. 12 and Saturday, Aug. 13, ahead of the first day of the fall semester, Wednesday, Aug. 17.  

WHAT: Students will be immersed into campus life and culture by getting involved in upwards of four dozen activities and events designed to showcase life as a Mountaineer with academic, service and social elements highlighting the importance of working hard while having fun and serving the community.

Key Events  

Saturday, Aug. 13: 

  • Rec Center Pool Party, 4-9 p.m. for all students at the Student Rec Center 

  • Welcome Week Cookouts, 5-7 p.m. for students with dining plans at the Mountainlair Green and Rec Center & Rec Fields  

Sunday, Aug. 14: 

  • Student Organization Fair, Noon-3 p.m. for all students at the Mountainlair Plaza  

  • Student Organization Fair, 6-7 p.m. for all students at the WVU Coliseum 

  • Mountaineer MovieFest, 7-9 p.m. for all students at the WVU Coliseum

Monday, Aug. 15: 

  • Monday Night Lights, 7-10 p.m. for first-year students only at Milan Puskar Stadium with a performance from “The Pride of West Virginia,” the Mountaineer Marching Band, and the taking of an official class photo. Students will also be participating in a service project to benefit the West Virginia United Way Collaborative.

Tuesday, Aug. 16: 

  • FallFest and Mountaineer Midway, 6 p.m. for all students at the Evansdale Rec Fields

WVU Arts and Entertainment will announce the FallFest lineup Friday (Aug. 12). This will be the first FallFest, a free concert for students, since Aug. 2019.

**A separate media advisory detailing FallFest media guidelines will be distributed Monday, Aug. 15.
