WVU students to compete in second annual Manufacturing Day Pitch Competition

WHAT: Second annual Manufacturing Day Pitch Competition hosted by the West Virginia University LaunchLab Network, WV Manufacturing Extension Partnership and WVU Mining and Industrial Extension

WHEN: 5 - 7 p.m., Tuesday (Oct 8) 

WHERE: WVU LaunchLab, room 413. Evansdale Crossing, Morgantown.

NOTES: Participating students will showcase their physical products that can be manufactured and will each present a five-minute pitch to a panel of judges, followed by another five-minute question and answer period.

First place will take home $750, second place $500 and third place $250. In addition, winners will receive 10 hours of consultation with WVMEP.

The event, which comes on the heels of the 2019 Manufacturing Day Oct. 4, offers the unique opportunity for attendees to see firsthand how WVU students are creating new, innovative products to help drive the advanced manufacturing industry forward in West Virginia and beyond. 

The judging panel will include CEO of American Muscle Docks, Luke Diserio; Executive Vice President of Business Development of Flat Rock Development, LLC, Greg Henthorn; State Director of the West Virginia Small Business Development Center, Debra Martin; Interim Dean of Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, Earl Scime.
