Statler College’s Amateur Radio Club will host contact with astronauts aboard the International Space Station

WHAT: WVU's Amateur Radio Club will be conducting a radio contact with astronauts currently aboard the International Space Station on Monday, September 4, beginning at 11:40 a.m. They will also be hosting a day-long event for elementary and middle school students filled with hands-on STEM activities from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTED ACTIVITIES:
10 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., Advanced Engineering Resources Building
Rocket Launch in AERB Courtyard 

Activities Rotation
Students and families will rotate between various hands-on STEM activities including rocket building and launching, chemistry demonstrations, hidden transmitter hunts and electrical engineering circuit demonstrations.

 

11:40 a.m.–12:10 p.m., Advanced Engineering Resources Building
International Space Station Contact 

During the contact approximately 20 elementary and middle school students will get the opportunity to have a Q&A session with astronauts currently aboard the ISS via radio contact.
