An international student who has immersed himself in the “cultural heartbeat” of his new community, a first-generation student graduating with a cumulative 4.0 grade-point average who had no access to high school college-prep courses and a Black woman who aspires to bridge the gap between research and clinical care to improve health disparities are among the graduating seniors to receive West Virginia University’s highest student honor, the Order of Augusta. These eight students are among 50 named WVU Foundation Outstanding Seniors.

The 2020-‘21 class of the West Virginia Business Hall of Fame honors a group of pioneers and visionaries who have transformed the business landscape of our state and inspire us to move West Virginia Forward.

In mid-April, West Virginia University students were given the opportunity to participate in an international, multi-agency cyber competition, Locked Shields. This out-of-classroom exercise enabled students to use the skills they’ve learned in everything from engineering to cybersecurity, media and law in one of the most complex, technical, live-fire challenges in the world.

The 15th annual West Virginia Statewide Collegiate Business Plan Competition left no doubt that West Virginia’s future is bright and brimming with entrepreneurial talent.

The first of its kind in the Mountain State, the contest — brought to life by the West Virginia University John Chambers College of Business and Economics — gave 20 West Virginia residents, innovators, entrepreneurs, businesses and non-profits from across the state the opportunity to win $15,000 to move innovative business ideas to market.

Two apprentices in the carpenters training program at WVU Potomac State College will be part of Sunday's episode of Barnwood Builders on the DIY Network. The episode was filmed at WVU Jackson's Mill.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, West Virginia University’s Bucklew Scholars continue to maintain high standards for academics, a passion for discovery and a desire to serve their state and others, while eagerly awaiting an opportunity to travel abroad.

West Virginia University graduates will return to in-person commencement ceremonies this May; and although some restrictions will be in place because of COVID-19, the celebrations will be no less memorable for the 4,499 who walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. Graduates from May, August and December 2020 are also eligible to participate in the exercises.

From classrooms and laboratories to residence halls, meeting rooms and a variety of nearby shops and restaurants, West Virginia University is focused on fostering a more inclusive environment for students, faculty and staff that extends across the University and beyond.

Intuit executive and Kenova native Brad Smith hopes his words inspire others to seek out the West Virginia he loves, building a better future for themselves and the state through a new remote worker program which announced three initial host communities March 23 – Morgantown, Shepherdstown and Lewisburg.
