U.S. Congressman Ro Khanna's Jan. 22 visit to WVU Tech canceled

The event scheduled for January 22, 2018 at WVU Tech with Congressman Ro Khanna has been postponed due to a conflict with the Congressman’s schedule. A new date for the event has not yet been determined, but will be shared when details are finalized.

WVU’s Department of English’s West Virginia Dialect Project launches ‘WVU Voices’ documentary

West Virginia University is a diverse campus for students who come from all 55 counties in West Virginia, all 50 states and more than 100 different countries. To celebrate that diversity, linguistics professor Kirk Hazen and journalism professor Mary Kay McFarland have created WVU Voices, a mini-documentary that highlight the many dialects and languages found on campus.

WVU experts available for insight, commentary related to State of the State address, legislative session

In his second State of the State address, Gov. Jim Justice will present his vision for West Virginia today (Jan. 10), as the regular session of the 2018 West Virginia Legislature begins. Several West Virginia University faculty, administrators and staff members will be available to offer insights and expert commentary to the media tomorrow night, in the days following Justice’s speech and throughout the legislative session.

WVU to hold December commencement exercises

More than 2,870 West Virginia University students are expected to graduate in two ceremonies Friday (Dec. 15, 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.) at the WVU Coliseum. WVU Provost Joyce McConnell and Northrop Grumman Corp. chief executive officer and president Wes Bush. Bush will also be awarded an honorary Doctor of Engineering at the 2 p.m. ceremony. College of Business and Economics and Eberly College of Arts and Sciences students will graduate at the 9 a.m. ceremony, where McConnell will speak. Students from all others colleges and schools will graduate at 2 p.m.

WVU Fire Service Extension offers first responders fentanyl exposure training

The West Virginia University Fire Service Extension is giving firefighters, police, emergency medical service workers, emergency room nurses and others the opportunity to learn about how to protect themselves from fentanyl exposure, which has been closely linked to responding to opioid overdoses.
