What’s the news?
Three theater productions this summer will allow West Virginia University students to work with professional actors thanks to a partnership between WVU’s College of Creative Arts and West Virginia Public Theatre.
Quotes and Comments
“For me, the partnership means that we have been able to sustain quality summer theatre and a holiday production for the region. Furthermore, the partnership has allowed talented students to interact with theatre professionals on the stage and behind the scenes. This is an invaluable experience for our students allowing them to have a jump start on professional careers. The core values of the company are to entertain and inspire audiences, to educate the youth of the state and region to the wonders of the theater, and to enhance the economic and cultural environment of our region.” –Paul Kreider, West Virginia Public Theatre’s Board President and Dean of the College of Creative Arts
“Young Frankenstein” is just pure fun and silliness – but with a sweet story of what it means to be “human.” “Sylvia” turns that idea on its head with a dog portrayed onstage by a young woman – and it is a funny, sentimental story of love and devotion. “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” taps into our memories, our love of the “Peanuts” and how all of us has a bit of Charlie Brown…and maybe Snoopy…inside.” – Lee Blair, Director of Young Frankenstein
