Community Notice: WVU to monitor weather conditions, plans normal operations

West Virginia University will monitor conditions as predicted inclement weather moves into the Morgantown area Thursday and Friday, Jan. 6-7. The University currently plans normal operations; however, WVU students and employees should call ahead before venturing out to ensure locations and services are open as conditions may change or services may be limited.

West Virginia University is committed to providing an on-campus learning experience as the spring 2022 semester approaches; however, with the rise in COVID-19 cases across the country and throughout the state because of the omicron variant, the University is implementing several updated campus health and safety protocols ahead of the start of classes that begin on Monday, Jan. 10.

West Virginia University’s spring 2022 semester will begin Monday, Jan. 10 with many of the current COVID-19 campus health and safety protocols remaining in place as health officials monitor the emerging omicron variant.

Game on: WVU prepping launch of esports minor alongside development of new esports team, top player already representing the gold and blue

A champion video game player under the direction of an esports coach of the year is competing for West Virginia University months ahead of the full launch of a new esports minor and Mountaineer esports team. By Fall 2022, students will have the option of pursuing a 15 credit minor in esports, video games played in highly-organized and competitive environments, in person or online across the three campuses — Morgantown, Beckley and Keyser.

WVU to ease some campus protocols, mask requirements for classrooms, labs will continue

As infection and hospitalization rates due to the delta variant decrease, West Virginia University will lift mask requirements for individuals in indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status, beginning Thursday, Oct. 21; however, the University will continue to require masks in all classrooms, labs or any WVU System facility or building being used as a classroom for the remainder of the semester.

WVU's Diversity Week to focus on ethnicity

West Virginia University will celebrate Diversity Week Oct. 10-16, focusing on the theme “Cultural Conversations: Celebrating the Social Significance of Ethnicity” with more than three dozen events in a mixture of in-person and virtual formats.

WVU expands indoor mask requirement to all indoor campus spaces

West Virginia University is updating its mask guidelines. Beginning Monday, Sept. 13, all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear a mask indoors in all WVU System buildings and facilities through Oct. 6, when public health conditions will be reevaluated.
