WVU Statler College to host energy systems lab and learning space dedication

WHAT: The West Virginia University Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources will host a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the Karl G. Morey Energy Systems Lab, named for a WVU alumnus, and the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Learning and Collaboration Space, established from support provided by WVU alumni Cindy and Reed Tanner. 

WHO: Pedro Mago, Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, and Anurag Srivastava, professor and Lane Department chair, will deliver remarks.

WHEN: Tuesday, April 25, 4-5:30 p.m. 

WHERE: Advanced Engineering Research Building, 1220 Evansdale Drive, Morgantown  

NOTES:

The Morey Energy Systems Lab will provide state-of-the-art, hands-on opportunities for students to learn using the latest and most sophisticated technology and resources including energy conversion equipment, smart grid energy management systems, smart grid control and communication equipment, renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines, and energy storage systems. The site is designed to help produce the skilled workforce needed to manage the integration of energy resources and renewable generators into the smart power grid. 

The LCSEE Learning and Collaboration Space is a reconfigurable, multi-purpose room that serves as a learning center for computer science and electrical engineering tutoring, a collaborative space to prepare for cybersecurity competitions and computer science classes with hands-on lab and collaborative activities.
