The West Virginia University Foundation is recognizing the alumni and friends of WVU who have created endowed scholarships, fellowships and student awards in calendar year 2018.

West Virginia University’s inaugural Research Week is more than a showcase of the work done at the state’s only R1 Research Institute; it’s a celebration of the faculty and students across campus who pursue ground-breaking research in all disciplines.

West Virginia University Libraries’ West Virginia & Regional History Center has opened the congressional archives of former U.S. Congressman and West Virginia Governor Arch A. Moore Jr. and released digitized photographs that document Moore’s decade in the House of Representatives.

Four prominent leaders in the fields of public relations, library science, finance, and medicine will join an influential group of West Virginia University graduates as this year’s inductees into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni at the Erickson Alumni Center May 17 at 6 p.m.

“REMIX the WVRHC Archives,” an exhibition and online project by the Art in the Libraries program, encourages people to use the West Virginia & Regional History Center’s online resources to design unique artistic works, such as collages, memes, GIFs, creative writing, redaction poetry and other agglomerations.

Although Virginia split into two separate states in 1863, West Virginia University Libraries and organizations from Virginia are uniting as part of the Digital Public Library of America’s new Digital Virginias service hub.

The John F. Kennedy Memorial in Start City and the restored 1953 Coca-Cola mural on a High Street building are just two of the 44 local attractions detailed in the new Morgantown Public Art Guide, a collaborative initiative among West Virginia University Libraries, the Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Art Museum of WVU, College of Creative Arts, Arts Monongahela, and theclio.com, a free nonprofit website that lists historic and cultural sites across the United States.

What do you imagine is in the future for Appalachia? West Virginia University Libraries is developing an interdisciplinary exhibit for 2019-20 themed around “Appalachian Futures.”

West Virginia University’s interim dean of Libraries, Karen Diaz, has been appointed the Libraries’ permanent dean by Provost Joyce McConnell.

West Virginia University Libraries has launched the Research Repository @ WVU, an online, openly available, home for the scholarship, creative work and research of University faculty, researchers and students.
