Woody Thrasher will continue to serve as chairman of the West Virginia University Alumni Association Board of Directors while serving as West Virginia secretary of commerce.
His current term leading the alumni association is set to expire in June 2017.
WVU Alumni Association President Sean Frisbee congratulated Thrasher on his appointment by Gov.-elect Jim Justice, “The WVU Alumni Association is thrilled to hear of Woody Thrasher’s new role,” Frisbee said. “West Virginia is lucky to have such a dedicated innovator like Thrasher to lead us into a brighter future for our state.”
Thrasher, who was appointed to the WVU Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2012, will set aside his business operations with The Thrasher Group Inc. as he takes over the role of commerce secretary.
