The Blue Ribbon Commission

The Blue Ribbon Commission has agreed to ask the legislature for $10 million to fund smaller higher ed institutions in the state, divided between them on a per-in-state student basis. Fairmont State would reap most of that, with Glenville State’s share dwindling to $40,000. Glenville’s leadership opposed the formula.

President Gee’s idea that the Higher Education Policy Commission should oversee only the state’s smaller public universities, leaving WVU and Marshall to be guided by their own Boards of Governors was challenged by HEPC’s chairman.
