Jarell Galido Rimando, a member of the Honors College and first-generation immigrant from the Philippines, is graduating with a degree in accounting and a minor in finance. An emerging business professional, she successfully balanced internships with community building, cultural engagement and peer mentorship.

Dedicated to fostering the growth of others, she leveraged her executive roles in the Filipino Student Association and as senior vice president of Delta Sigma Pi to help peers evolve into confident leaders.

Her influence extended to the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, where she helped shape future industry leaders as a Chambers Peer Mentor and Neidermeyer Scholar. As a scholar, she discovered her passion for teaching and empowering peers while providing supplemental instruction to accounting majors.

Rimando built her professional foundation through prestigious internships at “Big Four” firms. As a Launch Intern at EY in Pittsburgh, she rotated through audit, tax and consulting while completing national leadership and diversity training. She later served as an Embark Intern with KPMG in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she co-developed a capstone project on potential Major League Baseball expansion. Her research culminated in a presentation of her economic and demographic findings to firm executives at the KPMG Lakehouse in Orlando, Florida.

She completed a second capstone project for her accounting coursework, leveraging advanced Excel tools to perform non-compliance testing of the West Virginia State Auditor’s Office P-Card data.

Serving the Morgantown community, she assisted low-to-moderate income taxpayers through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs. Additionally, Rimando and her family launched a grassroots initiative to support newly arrived Filipino families, leading the technical operations to ensure well-organized, welcoming events.

A member of the international business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma, Rimando achieved a top 10% ranking for professionalism in the GE Aerospace Interview Competition, and she was nominated as the Delta Sigma Pi Nu Upsilon Chapter Collegian of the Year.

After graduation, Rimando will return to KPMG as a summer tax intern before pursuing a master’s degree in accountancy with an emphasis in tax. She plans to continue supporting student success as a graduate assistant in the Becker Academic Engagement Success Center and a first-year seminar instructor.
