Alexandria Spiker, a member of the Honors College from Morgantown, is graduating with a degree
in finance with an emphasis on investments and minors in law and legal studies, leadership studies
and insurance.

At the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, she led efforts to foster student
success and economic opportunity. Spiker supported her peers in several capacities, serving as a
Chambers Ambassador, a Huston Fellow in the Chambers Center for Career Development and a tutor
for student-athletes. She was also a member of the Delta Sigma Pi Standards Board and Project 168
and a teaching assistant for the Leadership Social Action course.

Her professional growth was shaped by internships bridging high finance and regional development. At the BNY Mellon Chief Investment Office, she supported the management of a $140 billion portfolio through data analysis and regression projects. As a venture capital intern for the Appalachian Emerging Investors Fund, she evaluated early-stage startups and met with founders to help secure vital capital for the Mountain State.

She integrated her financial skills as a campus ambassador for the WVU Foundation and an equity research analyst for the Student Managed Investment Fund, where she helped manage a $700,000 portfolio. In her role, Spiker published equity research on Substack and conducted portfolio stress testing and job placement analysis through an independent study with her faculty advisor.

Her academic experiences also included studying abroad in Italy through the Consortium for International Management and Business Analysis program and faculty-led trips to Ireland and Guatemala.

Being named a 2025 Mountaineers of Distinction finalist and co-founding Mountaineers on Wall Street — a mentorship and professional development program that helped 75% of the inaugural cohort secure high finance internships — stand as her most gratifying achievements. Spiker was also a member of the 2024 Homecoming Court — sharing a legacy with her mother, a member of the 1990 court.

Earning recognition from the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office, Spiker taught students through the “Get a Life” program, a hands-on financial literacy simulation for middle schoolers. Additionally, she supported her family’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s team.

Following graduation, she will join the BNY Markets and Wealth Services Rotational Analyst Program in New York City. She plans to use this experience to support Appalachian startups before returning to Morgantown for graduate school.
