Elizabeth Blemings

woman with long blonde hair

Elizabeth Blemings, a member of the Honors College from Morgantown, will graduate with degrees in finance and economics. She is the founder of the WVU Chapter of Amnesty International, a former vice president for professional activities for Delta Sigma Pi, former member of the WVU Equestrian Club and has served as the captain of the intramural softball and basketball teams.

While juggling rigorous academic demands, she has served as a tutor and mentor in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, helping freshman and sophomore students solidify the foundation of their business education.

She has also worked closely with WVU’s Bureau of Business and Economic Research as a research and teaching assistant, where she has helped construct economic forecasts and presentations for the state of West Virginia and its regions, and in 2018, her team published an economic forecast for the Huntington region.

The WVU Student Managed Investment Fund has been the most influential force in her finance education. She serves as a steward for an endowment within the WVU Foundation to stay up to date on economic trends, market themes, and company-specific news to actively manage the $370,000 portfolio, and has travelled to New York City several times to visit the New York Stock Exchange and multi-national corporations, and connect with alumni working in the industry.

Blemings held a plethora of jobs and internships throughout her time at WVU, including positions with Northwestern Mutual in Morgantown, Wilshire Private Markets in Pittsburgh, and RsA Tax Advisors in Shanghai, where she contributed content for a textbook on the Chinese fiscal system.

She has also managed the campus presence for Adventis CG, a financial modeling platform that helps prepare students for careers in investment banking and other high finance disciplines by teaching hands-on financial modeling and valuation skills

Blemings was set to graduate early, but with much convincing from her father to see the world before she graduates, she joined the WVU Honors College on their 2017 summer study abroad trip to Bahrain. Captivated by the Middle East’s hospitality, friendship and value on family, this experience changed the trajectory of her life. She went on to visit Ireland, Italy, China and Jordan.

After graduation, she will join the Financing & Risk Solutions team at NatWest Markets, the Royal Bank of Scotland’s investment banking arm located in the greater New York City.

As an active alumna, she hopes to stay connected to her alma mater to make sure students feel like there is a place for them in the business field.
