The West Virginia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America has awarded its Crystal Award to the College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University for the College’s semi-annual magazine. The award was announced June 18 at the PRSA- West Virginia Chapter Crystal Awards Gala in Charleston, West Virginia.

The Fall 2013 issue of B&E Magazine was honored with the prestigious award for the production of the magazine distributed to alumni, donors, students, prospective students, faculty, staff and friends of the College. The cover of the award-winning issue depicts people with a vested interest in the College as cheerleaders holding numbers reflecting several national rankings achieved by B&E programs in 2013.

“We couldn’t be happier that our magazine has been recognized for its excellence by PRSA,” said Dr. Jose Sartarelli, B&E’s Milan Puskar Dean. “The magazine is a critical part of how we communicate with the audiences that mean so much to B&E, and this award reflects the level of excellence we believe it has achieved since it was first produced. Our communications team works very hard on the magazine and should be highly commended for their excellent work.”

B&E Magazine won the Crystal Award in the category of Magazine or Newsletter, Primary audience is external, Not-for-Profit. It is produced entirely, except for printing, by the B&E Office of Communications & Marketing. Individuals working on the magazine project include Erica Lindsay, Art Director/Designer; Rachel Nieman, Writer; Alex Wilson, Photographer; and Patrick Gregg, Executive Editor and Writer.

“Receiving a Crystal Award is very special because it represents recognition by the communications industry,” said Gregg. “The magazine project truly is a team effort, a team with remarkable talents and commitment. Each issue starts with a meeting that includes Dean Sartarelli, who provides us with the vision and support needed to make it an important part of our outreach efforts.”

In addition to distributing printed copies all over the world, the magazine is also available on the WVU College of Business and Economics website. To read the magazine online, please visit be.wvu.edu/bemag/index.htm.
