Strap on your jogging shoes. West Virginia University is organizing a four-mile run/walk called Mountaineers Run United as part of Mountaineer Week and the United Way campaign. The run/walk will take place on Oct. 29 at 11 a.m.

Participants will start in front of the Mountainlair. The race will wind through the downtown campus, stretch up to the Coliseum and Creative Arts Center, past the Student Recreation Center, Evansdale Residential Complex and Erickson Alumni Center. The final stretch runs in front of Ruby Memorial Hospital and into Milan Puskar Stadium.

Pre-registration is open until Oct. 16 for $20 and can be completed at http://mountaineerweek.wvu.edu/united_way_race. Those who pre-register will receive a race t-shirt, bag and other items. On-site registration the morning prior to the race will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. for $30 at the Law School parking lot.

Parking for the race will be at the Law School, and participants will be transported via shuttle to the Mountainlair for the start. The last shuttle will depart at 10:45 a.m.

Awards will be given for men and women in certain age groups. Children will also receive awards for the younger activities. Age Divisions include: 11-17, 18-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64 and 65-plus.
