The West Virginia University College of Creative Arts invites talented music students in grades 7-12 to attend WVU Mountaineer Music Camp at the Creative Arts Center on the Evansdale Campus June 27-July 2.

This comprehensive camp is sure to be an exciting week of music and fun and is open to students in West Virginia and surrounding regions who are interested in studying band, choir and piano.

Camp instructors include outstanding faculty and students from the WVU Division of Music, including those from piano, choral and band areas. In addition, there will be instructors from the WVU Marching Band “The Pride of West Virginia.”

Campers will participate in a variety of activities, including rehearsals, lessons, master classes and special concerts. Band and choir students will receive private lessons and perform in their own ensembles. Piano students will receive lessons, have guided practice and play in chamber music.

In addition, all students will participate in a variety of music classes related to their individual interests, covering a wide range of topics, including music theory, music history, jazz, marching band leadership, world music and more.

The last day of camp will feature a final concert by all participating students. The July 2 event is free and open to the public so that parents, family members and friends may attend.

Band and choir students should have performance ability at the level required for high school concert band or choir. Pianists are required to submit a live or recorded audition before acceptance. The website contains more information about the repertoire requirements.
