After a nine-year run as the host of CBS’ “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” Craig Ferguson is once again touring the comedy circuit. Ferguson and his “New Deal Tour” will make a stop at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center on Oct. 26. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Ferguson’s knack for comedy made him the star of his own BBC television show “The Ferguson Theory.” He brought his act to the U.S. in 1995 to star with Betty White and Marie Osmond in the short-lived ABC comedy, “Maybe This Time.” Ferguson later joined the cast of “The Drew Carey Show,” playing Drew Carey’s boss Nigel Wick.
A huge success on the North American comedy circuit, Craig Ferguson has performed to sold-out theaters across the country, including a sold-out show at Carnegie Hall. Ferguson is widely known for his acclaimed comedy specials “A Wee Bit O’ Revolution” (Comedy Central), “Does This Need to be Said” (Epix) and “I’m Here to Help” (Netflix). The album “I’m Here to Help” earned Ferguson a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album.
Ferguson has lent his writing talents to a number of feature films, including “The Big Tease” and “Saving Grace.” He has also voiced the Viking Gobber in “How to Train Your Dragon,” “Owl” in the Disney classic “Winnie the Pooh” and Lord Macintosh in Disney’s “Brave.” His memoir “America on Purpose” became a New York Times bestseller in 2009 and continues to sell well to date.
Ferguson is currently the host of the syndicated “Celebrity Name Game” that puts celebrities on the spot as they compete to identify famous names based on improvised clues.
General public tickets for the Oct. 26th show at the WVU Creative Arts Center range from $58 to $78, depending on location. WVU Student tickets are $23. Tickets go on sale Monday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices, online at Ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 800-745-3000 and 304-293-SHOW (7469). The WVU Student discount is only available at the campus box offices. Limit one discounted ticket per valid WVU I.D.
