Monday, Oct. 5
CONCERT: WVU Jazz Ensembles
Jazz musicians from the School of Music will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at the Gladys G. Davis Theatre in the Creative Arts Center.

Tuesday, Oct. 6
CONCERT: WVU Wind Symphony
A composition by a School of Music alumnus will be on the program for this year’s inaugural WVU Wind Symphony concert. The 47-member ensemble will include “Vandalia” by Matt Jackfert in its concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre in the Creative Arts Center.

Thursday, Oct. 8
CYNTHIA MYERBERG LECTURE IN ART AND DESIGN: Janet Koplos
Janet Koplos, a New York-based art critic and lecturer, will present the Cynthia Myerberg Lecture in Art & Design at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall, 200A Creative Arts Center. She has served as a guest editor of American Craft magazine, and for 18 years she was a senior editor at Art in America magazine, where she is now a contributing editor. In addition to her extensive writing for national and international publications, Koplos has authored or coauthored several books, including “Makers: A History of American Studio Craft” and “Three Visions in Glass.” Her broad expertise encompasses architecture, design, American craft and folk art, contemporary Japanese art, Japanese folk art, and contemporary Dutch art.

Saturday, Oct. 10
EVENT: Viola Day
Young musicians will have a chance to tune up their skills at the third annual WVU Viola Day set for Sunday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
