West Virginia University will host a workshop that offers insights into the application process for funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).

Jason Rhody, senior program officer at the NEH in the Office of Digital Humanities, will lead workshops on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 22 and 23 in the Art Museum of WVU. He will lead a grant information session and mock reviews.

The event begins on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. with continental breakfast and registration in the Grand Hall of the Museum Education Center. Highlights of the morning session include an overview of NEH programs and special initiatives, strategies for writing applications from Rhody and successful applications, and a question-and-answer period. A hosted lunch will follow the morning presentation.

Thursday afternoon and Friday morning will offer private appointments with Rhody to allow in-depth review of proposals.

The workshop is free and open to all interested scholars, but pre-registration is required. To register and schedule individual review appointments, please contact Deanna Whorton at 304-293-5913 or Deanna.whorton@mail.wvu.edu.

The workshop and Rhody’s visit are being sponsored by WVU’s College of Creative Arts and Research Office. President Lyndon Johnson signed the NEH and National Endowment for the Arts into existence on Sept. 29, 1965. WVU has begun a year of events that commemorate the 50th anniversary with a year of events that highlight the arts and humanities.
