ALUMNI-IN-RESIDENCE: Ethan Clark
In his work with the National PTA (Parent Teacher Association), Ethan Clark is an advocate for music education in our schools. He’ll share some of his strategies during a visit to West Virginia University. Clark, who earned a degree in music education from the School of Music, will make the case that “It Takes a Village” to support art education at 4 p.m. in Bloch Hall, 200A Creative Arts Center.
COUNTRY GUITAR MASTER CLASS: Tim Wallis
Tim Wallis loves the guitar so much that he’s constantly trying to expand what it can do. The country artist and inventor will share his passion for picking in a master class for students. The master class is free and open to the public and will be held at 7 p.m. in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre, 2200 Creative Arts Center.

ARTIST LECTURE: Sculptor Dylan Collins
While most artists play with fire on a metaphorical level, School of Art and Design sculpture instructor Dylan Collins takes the phrase literally. He applies blacksmithing and welding to his studio work, including some of the pieces currently on display in the Laura Mesaros Gallery in WVU’s Creative Arts Center. Collins will discuss his incendiary techniques, artistic inspiration, and his works in the ongoing “Match Cut” exhibition at a lecture at 5 p.m. in Bloch Hall, 220A Creative Arts Center.

PLAY: “The Clean House” by Sarah Ruhl
What are a Brazilian comedian-turned-maid, a doctor and her surgeon husband, a sister who loves to clean, and an unexpected lover all doing in the same house? They’re having a slightly surreal experience of community, comedy, and love. The School of Theatre and Dance will present the engaging modern play, “The Clean House,” by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Jim Knipple, in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre September 25 – 26, 28 – 29, October 1 – 3 at 7:30 p.m. and September 27, October 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster, the Creative Arts Center or Mountainlair Box Offices, or by calling 304-293-SHOW.

FACULTY RECITAL: Andrew Kohn, String Bass
Andrew Kohn, professor of string bass and music theory and coordinator of theory and composition in the School of Music, will present a faculty recital at 3 p.m. in Bloch Hall, 200A Creative Arts Center.

PAUL MESAROS GALLERY: Donna Legault sculpture/sound exhibition, Tuesday through Sunday, 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Legault is a Canadian artist who engages audiences with sound in public spaces. Her installations activate the spectator and challenge their relation to sound by drawing attention towards the qualities of “noise” as a physical and temporal presence. See Legault’s website at http://donnalegault.com/
