West Virginia University Provost Joyce McConnell today made what she called the “natural choice” of appointing Senior Associate Registrar Aimee Pfeifer as interim university registrar, effective Aug. 1.

“Aimee is a seasoned professional in the field,” McConnell said. “She has both broad experience from several institutions and a depth of experience from her time at WVU. I’m confident that she is the best leader for the Office of the Registrar during our transition.”

Pfeifer will be stepping in to replace Steve Robinson, who has served as the university registrar since 2009 and has recently accepted a position at the University of Oregon. Robinson hired Pfiefer as the associate registrar for student services, responsible for the maintenance of student records, in 2010. Pfiefer has also worked in the registrar’s office at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and at Capital University in Ohio and has more than 10 years of experience in the field.

“I look forward to working to continue the efforts of the Office of the University Registrar and building upon WVU’s successes,” Pfeifer said.

Provost McConnell anticipates beginning a national search for a new permanent registrar this fall.
