President Gee helps launch new campaign "Mountaineers Go First"

This month, WVU launched a new creative campaign called "Mountaineers Go First." To bring this brand to life, President Gee reveals five Mountaineer "firsts" in this video filmed at the WVU Visitors Center with another WVU first as the backdrop - a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) car.

The first University to be named the FBI’s lead academic partner in biometrics research was…the West Virginia University Mountaineers.

The first person to develop the modern high-speed cable modem was…a Mountaineer.

The first female basketball player to dunk during an NCAA game was…a Mountaineer.

WVU President Gordon Gee wants to know, “What will be your Mountaineer first?”

This month, WVU launched a new creative campaign called “Mountaineers Go First” in order to better tell the University’s unique story and define the institution’s core values.

To bring this brand to life, Gee reveals five Mountaineer “firsts” in this video filmed at the WVU Visitors Center with another WVU first as the backdrop – a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) car.

“Each of us is an example of what it means to be a Mountaineer,” Gee said about the new brand. “We personify our University’s brand every day. Be bold. Be confident. Be innovative. And let us never forget: When everyone else goes back, Mountaineers Go First.

“Let’s go.”
