West Virginia University Police has been named the 14th-best police department among colleges and universities in the United States by Security Magazine.

WVU Police moved up three spots from last year’s rankings. Each year, Security Magazine releases a new Security 500 list, which ranks 500 of the best security departments in the world from various corporations and institutions.

“We are really proud of these rankings,” said Bob Roberts, WVU police chief. “It’s great for our whole department, which works hard to make sure we not only keep our campus safe but continue to make improvements in the way we do that.”

To quickly communicate with WVU Police in an emergency, download the LiveSafe App. For more information and to download the app for Apple and Android devices, visit: http://police.wvu.edu/special-services/livesafe.

WVU also sends out a text alert to warn those subscribed to the service of dangerous situations. If you do not receive WVU text alerts, visit: http://emergency.wvu.edu/alert/.
