Seven West Virginia University student-athletes will share personal stories of motivation and inspiration with public school students at the WVU Coliseum in Room 172 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30.

The program, Student Athletes Speak Out, will feature student-athletes from the football, baseball, wrestling, men’s swimming and women’s soccer teams.

The speakers, listed with the sport they represent and the title of their speech, are:

Ross Renzi (wrestling) Success Stories Begin Here
Mariano Adame (swimming) Good Enough for Einstein
Macy Stalnaker (soccer) A Sound Mind and a Sound Body
Carly Black (soccer) Hard to Swallow
Tucker Cascadden (baseball) Not Worth It
Daryl Worley (football) Better Things Ahead
Dustin Garrison (football) Weathering the Storm

For more than two decades, Carolyn Atkins, WVU professor of speech pathology and audiology in the College of Education and Human Services, has encouraged student-athletes to share their stories with the public.

“Student Athletes Speak Out” is in conjunction with her course, SPA 270, Effective Public Speaking.

The event is open to the public. A live stream will also be available at http://www.wvusports.com/
