West Virginia University music faculty member Lynn Hileman will present a bassoon recital, with pianist Liz Ames, at the Creative Arts Center, Sunday, Oct. 19.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. in Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (200A) and is free and open to the public.

The program will feature three works for bassoon and piano by Chiel Meijering, including “Betty Boop,” “All Muscles and Teeth,” and “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction.” Also, “Toccata” for bassoon and piano by Sarana Chou, and two pieces for bassoon and electronics by Zoe Keating: “Tetrishead” and “Fern.”

Hileman is dedicated to reinvigorating concert music through the performance of post-classical contemporary and experimental music, orchestral and chamber music, as well as electronic music and interdisciplinary arts. She holds degrees from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and Yale University, and a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music, where she was awarded the Andrew G. Bogiages Memorial Prize in Bassoon in 2004. She is also principal bassoonist of the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra and makes up one half of the contemporary bassoon duo Tuple.
