Summer is coming to an end, but fall gardening is in full swing. Keep your garden green with West Virginia University Extension Service’s “Ask the WVU Extension Service Expert” online question and answer session which offers tips to cultivate crops and advice to maintain your garden during autumn.

The session will take place on WVU Extension’s Facebook page from noon until one today (Sept. 3).

During the session, experts will answer user-submitted questions and provide information and advice from deep-rooted knowledge and fact-based, University research.

Fall offers gardeners another chance at a bountiful harvest for use with cooking and canning. Two WVU Extension agriculture and horticulture experts will be on hand to answer gardening questions about fall, fruit, flowers and more!

Lewis Jett, WVU Extension’s commercial horticulture specialist, can answer questions about a variety of plants and planting techniques for the fall season. Jett specializes in growing vegetable and fruit crops, but has knowledge and experience that branches into other areas of gardening.

WVU Extension’s Kanawha County Agriculture and Natural Resources agent, John Porter, will be available to answer questions related to raised gardens, urban gardening techniques and a variety of other fall gardening need-to-know tips.

Join Extension experts on Sept. 10 for a return “Ask the WVU Extension Service Expert” session about canning and food.

Weekly sessions of “Ask the WVU Extension Service Expert” will continue throughout the fall with subjects that include WVU Extension’s upcoming Community Leadership Academy (Sept. 17), healthful living and Dining with Diabetes. 24), Joining 4-H (Oct. 1) and more.
