The third installment of the weekly Ask the West Virginia University Extension Expert live Q&A session will address West Virginia history and tourism. The session takes place Wednesday, May 7, from noon to 1 p.m., online on WVU Extension’s Facebook page.

During the session, experts will answer user-submitted questions about what the state has to offer for the leisurely traveler or historical sightseer — just in time for the summer vacation season.

Looking for in-state, day trip ideas? Planning a romantic trip through the Appalachian hills or an adventurous trip on the state’s rapids? Trying to find affordable, family-friendly trip options? WVU Extension Rural Tourism Specialist Doug Arbogast can suggest the perfect place to take in the splendor of the state’s abundant natural resources.

Chad Proudfoot, WVU Extension Service’s 4-H cultural resource specialist and historian, educates young and old alike about their West Virginia heritage. Self-identified “history buffs” can pose historical questions to Proudfoot.

The Q&A takes place on the eve of WVU Extension’s centennial birthday, which provides a unique opportunity to ask questions about “all things Extension” that have occurred in the past 100 years of service to the state and its people.

Weekly sessions of “Ask the WVU Extension Expert” will continue throughout the month of May and cover food, gardening and summer youth topics.

During the live Q&A on May 14, participants can get advice on picnics and barbeques, food safety and recipes in an “Ask the WVU Extension Expert” session that covers outdoor cooking.
