Three of West Virginia University’s training and development programs have been singled out by the West Virginia chapter of the American Society of Training and Development, which has recognized the University as the “Best Government Organization of the Year.”

The innovative programs are WVU Training and Development’s Supervisor Training, Mountaineer Leadership Academy and Harassment/Hostile Work Environment Prevention.

“This award is a reflection of the hard work of the many WVU employees who have created these programs and who encourage as many members of the University community as possible take advantage of them,” said Margaret Phillips, vice president of human resources.

This award is presented annually to a West Virginia organization which demonstrates outstanding service and dedication in training and innovation in learning. It recognizes organizations that demonstrate enterprise-wide success as a result of employee learning and development.

WVU was selected from among nominees ranging from small and large private, public and not-for-profit organizations from across West Virginia that utilize the learning function as a strategic business tool to get results.

Award winners must demonstrate that they are excellent in many aspects of the learning function, and are judged on their ability to show that learning.

The award will be presented at the ASTD WV Conference Feb. 9-10 at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs.
