The Stiletto Brass Quintet will present a guest artist concert at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

The program begins at 8:15 p.m. in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre and is free and open to the public.

Formed in 2010, the Stiletto Brass Quintet has become a leading brass ensemble, with performances that audiences have greeted with rousing ovations at events such as the National Trumpet Competition, the International Trumpet Guild Conference and the Great American Brass Band Festival in Danville, Ky.

Stiletto features five highly accomplished women from the United States, with careers spanning the fields of orchestral, wind band, and brass chamber music. They include Amy Gilreath and Cathy Leach, on trumpets; Kelly Langenberg, on horn; Nicole Abissi, on trombone; and WVU School of Music alumna Velvet Brown, on tuba (BM ‘85).

This “highly stylized” group, as highlighted in the August 2012 international brass magazine The Brass Herald, reflects timely changes in the music scene. Its energetic and diversified repertoire includes compositions written by leading composers of our time, as well as classical and popular works from the Baroque period to Gershwin. Stiletto’s concerts are fun, serious, heart-warming, entertaining, and always an audience’s favorite!
