Self-proclaimed D-List comedienne Kathy Griffin will bring her brand of razor-sharp comedy to the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Show time is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices, online at ticketmaster.com, or by calling 304-293-SHOW or 800-745-3000.

Kathy Griffin has been a mainstay on the comedy circuit since her entrance into improv in the 1980s. Griffin’s ribald personality has appeared on film, stage and television for decades and shows no signs of slowing down. Her Emmy Award-winning reality show “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” is a key slice of her trademark comedy, bashing celebrity life and gossip while poking fun at her own fame. All of Griffin’s comedy albums from 2008 to 2012 earned Grammy nominations, and 2009 brought her a Gracie Award for Outstanding Female Lead of a Comedy Series. The New York Times contends that, “Ms. Griffin’s appeal is in her ability to combine insider access to the world of the famous (or at least the pseudo-famous) and her willingness to be frank about its inhabitants.”

Kathy has also starred as Sally Weaver on “Seinfeld” and Vickie Groener of “Suddenly Susan.” She also earned rave reviews for her portrayal of a lesbian activist on “Law and Order: SVU.” Broadway aficionados fell in love with her stand-up show “Kathy Griffin Wants a Tony.” Griffin’s rapid-fire wit has been featured on a variety of Bravo comedy specials, such as the Emmy-nominated “Kathy Griffin—Straight to Hell” and “Kathy Griffin; She’ll Cut a Bitch.” The Grammy-nominated “For Your Consideration” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Comedy Album chart, making Griffin the first woman to achieve this status. No one burns Hollywood like Kathy Griffin, so come out and feel the heat at the WVU Creative Arts Center.

Ticket buyers should note that this performance may contain strong language and/or explicit subject matter. While many find these types of events suitable for young adults (13 and older), parental discretion is advised.
