There are highly successful alumni all over the world who earned their degree from West Virginia University’s business school, and the nominations are now open to honor some of them.

Established in 2011 as part of the 60th anniversary celebration of the WVU College of Business & Economics (B&E), the Roll of Distinguished Alumni recognizes successful alumni from the College. B&E is accepting nominations of individuals for induction through August 23. Prospective inductees must be present for the induction ceremony, which will be held Homecoming Weekend on Friday, October 18, in Morgantown.

Jose ‘Zito’ Sartarelli, Milan Puskar dean, said B&E graduates have been successful in a number of career areas through the U.S. and around the world, and the Roll of Distinguished Alumni honors those individuals for their outstanding work.

“B&E has been the launching pad for countless careers in business, academia, government and many other areas,” said Sartarelli. “For more than 60 years, this business school has prepared students to make their mark on the world. The Roll of Distinguished Alumni is a great way to celebrate their successes.”

Nominated individuals must be B&E alumni, must be 10 years post-degree and must have distinguished themselves by success in business or life at the regional, national or international level.

Thus far, 15 graduates have been inducted. Last year’s class included W. Marston Becker (1974), Karen S. Evans (1992), William F. Kennedy (1964), Parry G. Petroplus (1973), Douglas R. Van Scoy (1966) and Henry C. Wagner III (1964). Inaugural inductees last year included Joseph E. Antonini (1944), Phyllis H. Arnold (1970), J. Michael Bodnar (1970), William T. Bright (1960), Earl G. “Ken” Kendrick (1965), William T. McLaughlin II (1960) and Fred T. Tattersall (1970).

“This is a great way to honor our distinguished alumni,” Sartarelli said. “I constantly remind students that the people inducted into the Roll of Distinguished Alumni were once students just like them.”
