Just weeks before crossing the stage for graduation, the senior members of the dance program at West Virginia University have one last chance to take the stage with their fellow dancers.

The Spring Student Dance Showcase is the final dance production held by the School of Theatre and Dance this season and will be held on Thursday (April 26) in two showings at 7 and 9 p.m. in the Falbo Theatre at the Creative Arts Center.

“It’s somewhat unbelievable to think that my final performance as a WVU student has finally come,” said Valerie Guido, a senior dance minor from Clarksburg. “For many of us, dance is a daily ritual – whether it’s taking class, rehearsing or getting ready for a performance. To think that it’s almost time to be done working with these dancers and faculty brings some sadness, but the experience has been something I will never forget.”

All tickets for the show are $9 and can be purchased at the door or through box offices at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center. Tickets are also available for purchase on Ticketmaster or by calling 304-293-SHOW.

The concert will highlight creative choreography by dance minors, and students from all over campus will perform. It is produced and directed solely by students in the dance program under the guidance of Director Yoav Kaddar.

Guido said the show includes everything from modern to tap and sentimental to humorous concepts, and that it provides a wide variety for all to enjoy.

“Though it was put together quickly, the student showcase will be another great show which just proves how the dancers here are extremely hardworking and talented, and can excel under pressure,” Guido said. “It has been an honor dancing for WVU alongside such wonderful dancers and amazing people.”
