Warren Myers, associate dean for academic affairs of West Virginia University’s Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, announced the winners of the College’s outstanding teachers, researchers and advisors for 2011-2012. The awards were handed out at the College’s annual Honors Ceremony, which took place on Friday, April 20.

Powsiri Klinkhachorn, from the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, was recognized as the teacher of the year. Also selected as outstanding teachers were Hema Siriwardane, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Kenneth Means and Hailin Li, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and David Graham, Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.

John Zaniewski, from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was selected as this year’s outstanding advisor. Also honored for their advising work were Khashayar Aminian, Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Ryan Sigler, enrollment coordinator; and David Solley, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Xingbo Liu, from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, was chosen as the College’s Outstanding Researcher. Also recognized were Donald Adjeroh and Arun Ross, Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.

New Researcher of the Year honors went to Avinash Unnikrishnan, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Feng Yang, Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering.
