The West Virginia University Police Department is seeking help identifying a “person of interest” in an on-going theft investigation, and is inaugurating use of a new tool to help find the individual.

A WVU student reported an iPod was stolen from the sixth floor of the Wise Library between 10:15 and 11 a.m. on March 5. Surveillance footage provided to the police shows a male wearing a red hoodie who may have information concerning the theft. If you can identify this person or have any information, please contact the Investigative Unit at 304-293-3136.

The WVU Police have posted a photo of the person of interest at http://www.idthisperson.com, a website created to assist law enforcement in identifying suspects or persons of interest related to criminal activity. It is UPD’s first use of the website.

Those helping identify subjects on the site can receive a $25 reward. These images are updated daily and can be viewed and information provided anonymously.
