Michael “Mike” Augustine has been appointed vice president, finance and chief financial officer for the West Virginia University Foundation, effective June 27.

Augustine comes to Morgantown from Florida where he spent the past three years as vice president and chief financial officer for the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies in Port St. Lucie. Prior to joining TPIMS, Augustine spent 10 years with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, including serving as vice president, CFO and chief administrative officer. From l993-l998, he served as director of finance and administration with the West Virginia Network for Educational Telecomputing in Morgantown.

“Mike Augustine brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the world of finance and accounting,” said Wayne King, president and CEO of the WVU Foundation. “We are looking forward to his leadership and expertise as part of our team, and welcome him and Audra to Morgantown.”

Augustine earned his master’s degree in business administration from Florida Institute of Technology and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from California University of Pennsylvania. He is a Certified Public Account, Certified Management Accountant and member of the National Institute of Certified Management Accountants.

“I am honored and excited about the opportunity to serve as the WVU Foundation chief financial officer and look forward to making meaningful and lasting contributions,” Augustine said. “I spent five years in West Virginia higher education in the mid-1990s and had a wonderful experience. I look forward to returning to Morgantown and becoming part of the Mountaineer community.”

Augustine will take over for Patricia Robertson who left the Foundation for a position in Oklahoma.

The WVU Foundation is a private, non-profit corporation that generates, receives and administers private gifts for the benefit of West Virginia University.
