Students can now become a fan of West Virginia University’s Student Organizations Services on Facebook.

The fan page has been created to better inform students of upcoming events and programs happening at WVU, connect and share information with other student organization members and leaders, receive important messages and at times will feature a “student organization spotlight.”

“We know that using social media, especially Facebook, is the best way to reach our students,” said Kim Harrison, assistant director for Student Organizations Services. “We needed to reach students where they already go—Facebook.”

Student Organizations Services enhances and furthers student engagement in extracurricular activities at WVU.

“We provide programming, mentorship and support, which promote retention and success of our students,” said Harrison. “We believe that Facebook will increase awareness of what our office has to offer.”

The Student Organizations Services office provides support for over 325 student organizations, including the Student Government Association , WVU Greek Life and the Mountaineer Maniacs.

In addition to overseeing the 325 student organizations the Student Organizations Services office offers the following programs: the annual WVU Homecoming Parade, Meet the Greeks, S.H.O.P and Toy Mountain, a variety of student organization fairs and the Student LOT.

Harrison encourages students to become fans of WVU Student Organizations Facebook page, and check regularly for event times and locations, dates and pictures of events and other important news. For more information please call 304-293-4397.
