Horse owners and enthusiasts can expand their equine knowledge Saturday, April 9, during Horsemen’s Educational Day at the West Virginia University Animal and Nutritional Sciences Farm in Morgantown. The event, which is sponsored by WVU Extension Service, is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Informational sessions will consist of classroom and hands-on instruction. Topics include horse health, nutrition and body condition scoring, parasite control, hoof care, manure management and horse training for all disciplines.

Speakers for the event include Winnie Masset, veterinarian and master farrier from West Virginia Equine Services; Holly Spooner, WVU Extension assistant professor and horse specialist; and Scott Bowridge of the WVU Division of Animal and Nutritional Sciences.

Registration forms for the event are available at all WVU Extension county offices, or from event organizer and Spooner at 304-293-2669 or holly.spooner@mail.wvu.edu.

Registration for the event is due April 1. A fee of $15, which includes all presentations as well as a boxed lunch, is due at the time of registration. Those who wish to bring their own lunch are only required to pay a $10 fee.
