Spring is in the air and so is the sound of flutes at the Creative Arts Center as the West Virginia University Flute Choir presents its spring concert, at 3 p.m., Sunday (March 6) in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A). The event is free and open to the public.

According to WVU music professor Francesca Arnone, who directs the Flute Choir, the group will perform a concert of flute chamber music and large choir selections, including a trio by Laszlo Zempleni, a quartet by Faustin Jean-Jean, a quintet by Raymond Guiot, and large flute choir works by Melvin Lauf, Stephen Lias, Ryohei Hirose, and Pietro Mascagni.

Graduate students Krystle Fryzel and Phil Bracken will conduct several works, along with Arnone.

The WVU Flute Choir is comprised of approximately 15 flute majors who play various combinations of C flute, piccolo, alto flute and bass flute.
