Songs, dances, madrigals and instruments from the 12th to the 16th centuries will be on the program as guest artists Ron and Janice Cook present an “Early Music” recital at West Virginia University’s Creative Arts Center, Friday (March 4).

The concert begins at noon in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre and is free and open to the public.

The Cooks are founding members of a group of musicians based in Columbus, Ohio, called “Early Interval” that specializes in performance of early music.

Music on the program includes songs, dances, madrigals, and improvisations from the 12th to 16th centuries and a solo sonata by Loeillet de Gant.

The Cooks play handcrafted instruments, including rebec, hurdy-gurdy, medieval harp, Italian Renaissance harp, bass viol da gamba, vielle, recorders and tabors.
