West Virginia University students who have purchased a class ring are invited to receive their ring during a ceremony on Sunday (Oct. 24).

The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. in the Ruby Grand Hall of the Erickson Alumni Center.

“Ring Day is a special time for students to reflect on their time on campus, and for parents to enjoy seeing their child reach that milestone,” said Sabrina Cave, executive director of the Mountaineer Parents Club. “The official WVU class ring is one of the many rich traditions we have at WVU.”

Remarks will be given by Ken Gray, vice president of Student Affairs Steven Douglas, president and chief executive officer of the WVU Alumni Association, Cave and former Mountaineer mascot alumnus Derek Fincham.

Fincham will be presenting current Mountaineer mascot Brock Burwell, who will be wearing his buckskins, with his class ring.

Students and their families are invited to a reception following the ceremony.

Students must have obtained junior status before purchasing a ring. The rings can be purchased through Herff Jones representative Vince Rodi at 412-331-2562 or vincerodi@yahoo.com, the WVU Bookstore or online at http://www.herffjones.com/college/wvu .

All students who purchased a ring were invited, along with their family, to attend the Ring Day ceremony. Invitations were mailed, and reservations are required. To make a reservation contact the Mountaineer Parents Club at 304-293-2506, or by e-mail at ParentsClubEvents@mail.wvu.edu .

Ring Day is held biannually, once in the fall semester and once in the spring.
