Comedy master-mind Lewis Black returns to the WVU Creative Arts Center stage on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Sept. 20 at 9 a.m. at the Mountainlair Box Office, online at ticketmaster.com or by phone at 304-293-SHOW.

Lewis Black’s scathing wit, icy sarcasm and hilarious “rage” has taken him many places in his career, including HBO, Comedy Central, and Bonnaroo, where he continually leaves audiences in stitches with his characteristic political humor and gut-busting rants. In addition to his stand-up and his Comedy Central show The Root of All Evil, Black has also appeared as a cartoon celebrity guest star—thanks to his distinctive voice—on Cartoon Networks’ Duck Dodgers and My Gym Partner’s a Monkey. Black has also starred in numerous major motion pictures, including Accepted and Man of the Year, and frequently appears on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show in a segment known as “Back in Black.”

Black won The American Comedy Award in 2001 for Funniest Male Stand-up, and has been nominated for an Emmy. It is surely his unconventional style, with his feverish outbursts and cunning mockery, that has secured him so much success. Unsurprisingly, Black lists George Carlin and Lenny Bruce as heavy influences, ones that do not go unnoticed during his commanding performances.

Ticket prices range from $42 to $67, depending on seat location. WVU students can purchase tickets for $27 with a valid student I.D card. One discount per I.D. Tickets may be purchased at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices, online at ticketmaster.com and by phone at 304-293-SHOW or 800-745-3000. Tickets may also be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, including Giant Eagle on Greenbag Rd.
