MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The WVU Opera Theatre presents “Life in Song,” a celebration of opera scenes, at the Creative Arts Center April 9-11.
Directed by Robert Thieme, head of the WVU opera program, performances will take place Friday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 11 at 3:15 p.m. inside the Antoinette Falbo Theatre.
The program includes songs from “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” by Otto Nicolai; “Hansel and Gretel,” by Engelbert Humperdidnck; “Albert Herring,” by Benjamin Britten; “Eugene Onegin,” by Peter Tchaikovsky; “Anna Bolena,” by Gaetano Donizetti and “Gallantry, A Soap Opera,” by Douglas Moore.
All scenes will be performed by WVU voice students, including Ting Ting Chang, Cynthia Ortiz-Bartley, Maureen Seymour, Karina Sweeney, Justin Barclay, Maria Mahe, Jeanna Nestor, MaryJoanna Grisso, Sara Plata, Dennis Gallagher, Carol-Leigh Womack, Nathan Costella, George Simpson, Sara Nale, Joshua Stubbs, Marissa Bloom, Kelsey Pierce and Jarrell Strickland.
