West Virginia University’s International Student Organization will be hosting their annual International Dinner on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. in the Mountainlair ballrooms.

This year’s theme is “Arabian Nights” and will feature cuisine and entertainment from Middle Eastern and North African countries, such as Jordan, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Saudi Arabia.

One of the missions of ISO is to “have your culture heard,” so the organization will be celebrating the Middle Eastern and North African culture through a variety of cuisines and entertainment.

“People can enjoy all kinds of homemade food, as well as experience the music and entertainment from that area,” said Eileen Huang, ISO president. “In addition, part of the proceeds will go to a special organization to help with children’s education in the Middle Eastern and North African countries.”

ISO works to bring together international and domestic students though a variety of activities each year.

“It is important to host an International Dinner to foster cultural understanding and appreciation. Eating the food of another person’s country is an easy first step to accepting and embracing the differences between us,” said Lisa DeFrank-Cole, ISO faculty adviser.

The dinner is open to all students, faculty, staff and Morgantown community members. Tickets are $16 for adults and $10 for students.

Tickets can be purchased in room 111 of Elizabeth Moore Hall at any time as well as at the door.
