West Virginia University and Morgantown officials warned Monday that parking options for tonight’s (Feb. 8) WVU-Villanova men’s basketball game will be limited due to the accumulation of snow, and advised those attending to make alternate arrangements.

Both Coliseum lots and areas on surrounding streets are affected.

Not only is space at the Coliseum limited because of snow, but the Morgantown Police Department said, “Parking along Monongalia Boulevard, as well as the adjacent city streets, will not be a safe option due to large amounts of snow. Parking options will be very limited.”

The department suggested that people make alternative parking arrangements prior to the game, which is scheduled to begin at the WVU Coliseum at 7 p.m.

“Many of our roadways are already restricted due to the snow and we can’t allow parking to interfere with the safe movement of traffic as lanes must be kept open for emergency vehicles,” the statement said. “People who plan on attending tonight’s game should allow plenty of extra time to travel as many roadways in and around Morgantown remain snow/ice covered.”

The department said vehicles blocking traveled portions of the roadway will be ticketed and towed.

WVU officials encouraged fans to use the Gameday shuttle as an alternative. The shuttle leaves from the Green Lot on Van Voorhis Road (across from the United Center). Cost is $4 round trip and begins at 5 p.m. (two hours prior to tipoff). This service is available for every home men’s basketball game and runs for approximately one hour after the game.
