West Virginia women’s soccer player Megan Mischler has been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Mischler, a Moon Township, Pa., native scored two goals over the weekend in a pair of BIG EAST matches against No. 8 Notre Dame and DePaul. The speedy forward battled the flu all week and fired off a game-high four shots in 86 minutes against the Fighting Irish.

Two days later, Mischler played all 90 minutes in netting the game-winner, her team-leading fourth goal of the season, on a rare header in the second half against DePaul.

Mischler is the third Mountaineer to earn a BIG EAST weekly honor this season, joining Blake Miller (offensive 8/31) and Kerri Butler (goalkeeper 8/24).

Teammate Carolyn Blank was also named to the conference’s weekly honor roll for her efforts. The defensive center mid assisted on the game-tying goal against Notre Dame and scored her third goal of the season on a header in the shutout against DePaul – the sixth of the season for WVU.
