The Parking Management office and the Transportation and Parking Administrative offices are closing beginning at noon, Oct. 8 through Tuesday, Oct. 14 to pack and prepare to move office locations to the new Mountaineer Station.

These two offices are moving from their current location at 3040 University Ave. to the new location at 1112 Van Voorhis Drive. It is important to know that while the office is closed from Thursday afternoon through Tuesday, parking patrons may still access their parking accounts through the Department’s website at http://transportation.wvu.edu. In-person transactions to purchase parking permits or pay citations will begin in the new location on Oct. 15 when the new offices open for business. The parking garage will open officially on Oct. 20. Until then, those needing to conduct business in the Parking Management offices are asked to park in the area in front of the building.

Mountaineer Station is the new intermodal facility located in front of the Health Sciences PRT station. This new facility includes a 500-space parking garage for both permit and short-term parking. The short-term parking rate is $.75 per hour. In addition to the garage and new offices for Transportation and Parking Administrative Department, Mountaineer Station will also feature interior bicycle storage, showers for bicyclists and pedestrians, a student commuter lounge with lockers, interior and exterior waiting areas for passengers of the Mountain Line or campus bus services, direct access to the Medical Center PRT station and, information stations in the lobby. Retail services are planned in the near future inside the facility.

The concept of Mountaineer Station is to promote the alternative transportation programs that are part of the WE GO Campaign. As an intermodal transportation center, Mountaineer Station will make it easier for people to use a variety of transportation modes to get to school or work.

“Mountaineer Station is another opportunity to promote alternative transportation and sustainability that helps both WVU and Morgantown,” explained Hugh E. Kierig, the director for WVU Transportation and Parking.

The Grand Opening of Mountaineer Station is set for Oct. 19. There will be an open house for the public from 10:00 a.m. to noon inside the lobby area of the building. Refreshments will be served.
