A veteran fraud investigator will give a talk on ethics in business Monday, Aug. 25, at West Virginia University .

Frank Piantidosi, chairman and chief executive officer of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services , will speak at 7:30 p.m. in Room 458 of the College of Business and Economics building. The public lecture is part of Professionalism Week at the business school .

Piantidosi, who also serves as global leader of the Forensic&Dispute Services practices of the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu member firms and their affiliates, will speak to students about the need for personal commitment to ethics. He will discuss how developing a keen sense of ethics and ethical behavior is the trademark of a real leader.

A seasoned veteran in forensic accounting, Piantidosi has spent the past two decades working on forensic investigations and uncovering fraud around the world. He has been involved in high-profile investigations, including the U.N.s Iraqi oil-for-food program. He was also a member of the commission headed by former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker that investigated Swiss banks and their holdings of the assets of Holocaust victims.

At Deloitte, Piantidosi has led the development of the dispute consulting and forensic investigations discipline and helped define the skills necessary to investigate global corporate fraud. He spearheaded the launch of the Deloitte Forensic Center, a think tank charged with exploring new approaches to mitigating the costs, risks and effects of fraud, corruption and other issues facing the global business community.

Piantidosi earned a bachelors degree in business and economics from St. Anselm College and a masters degree in accounting from Northeastern University.

He is a member of the Transparency International USA board of directors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
