Author to read at WVU

Author Karla Holloway will give a public reading at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the Gold Ballroom of the West Virginia University Mountainlair.

Holloway has penned five books, the latest being Passed On: African American Mourning Stories.

She is the William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of English and African American Literature and dean of the humanities and social sciences at Duke University. She is currently involved in two projects: one on libraries and the public postures that”circulate”around books; the other on bioethics and narrative.

Holloway is a core faculty member of Duke Universitys Institute on the Care at the End of Life. She also serves on the Greenwall Foundations Advisory Board in Bioethics, Imagining America: Artists and Scholars in Public Life, North Carolina Humanities Council and Princeton University Advisory Councils Program in the Study of Women and Gender.

A reception and book signing will follow the reading, sponsored by the WVU Department of English.
