WVU law professor awarded Fulbright scholarship

Matthew Titolo, a professor at the West Virginia University College of Law, has been awarded a Fulbright Senior Scholar grant for the spring 2019 semester. As a Fulbright Senior Scholar, Titolo will teach and study at the University de La Laguna in Tenerife, Spain, focusing on international commercial law and European Union law.

WVU awarded 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund grant

West Virginia University is one of 10 higher education institutions in the United States to be awarded an Innovation Fund grant to grow study abroad partnerships with Argentina. The U.S. Department of State, Partners of the Americas and NAFSA: Association of International Educators announced the winning teams as part of the Argentina-U.S. Workforce Development competition sponsored by Chevron and the U.S. Department of State.

WVU researcher studies quick blood test to help diagnose blood clots

Albeir Mousa, a professor of vascular surgery at West Virginia University, has used an innovative, faster method for ruling out DVT in patients before they have an ultrasound. He and his research team found that measuring the level of a specific protein—called D-dimer—in a patient’s blood may predict whether a time-intensive ultrasound is warranted. The “Annals of Vascular Surgery” has published the team’s results.

WVU College of Creative Arts unveils new arts series

From mainstage plays to large music ensemble concerts and art exhibitions to visiting artist lectures and student recitals, the West Virginia University College of Creative Arts’ 800-plus students and 100 faculty members present hundreds of events throughout the year. From September through April, the College will host The Curiosity Series, 25 events that are a chance for fans of one genre of music to listen to another or to attend a lecture on an arts topic that holds interest for them.
